Nikon V1 – Using the FT1 F-Mount Adapter – Image Samples

Here’s a few images: this first one is of an AMG Benz, parked about 7 meters from where we were sitting. Nikkor 85mm f/1.4, full frame, resized for the web,

Same image, 100% crop of just the wheel.

80-400, this was parked across the road, maybe 12-15 meters away. I think these were using the lens at full extension, and they’re a little softer than I’d like due to camera shake.

A crop of the wheel …

Sadly, the owner returned and drove off before I was able to reshoot the first of these in a portrait orientation.

I was using the 80-400 at full extension, and needed to bump the ISO in order to get a semi-acceptable shutter speed. Even with VR, the level of magnification was very high, and camera shake was very noticeable. Leigh had the Manfrotto, so that was not an option.

Across the road, the building displayed some interesting architectural features …

Which, upon closer examination, looked a bit like this …

I find the dynamic range in this last image to be interesting: observe the smoke detector within the shaded areas, as well as the different shades of white in the features that comprise the foreground.

Within the constraints outlined, I was very satisfied with the FT1 adapter on the V1.
