Sydney, Australia, September 26, 2011 – Yahoo!7 today launched its free Food app which gives users quick access to thousands of recipes and meal ideas from Australia’s leading magazines, chefs and more.
The Yahoo!7 Food app is one of the most comprehensive food apps on offer for Australians, with all of the content free of charge. People have access to thousands of recipes from the Yahoo!7 network and magazine partners such as New Idea, Better Homes and Gardens, Men’s Health, Prevention, Who, Home Beautiful and Women’s Health.
The Yahoo!7 Food app includes high quality imagery to accompany the step-by-step recipes, videos from top Australian chefs, essential nutritional information and a useful measurement conversion tool. Users can also save recipes to their ‘favourites’ menu for easy reference.
The new app, which is available for Android and iPhone, also lets users create their own shopping lists, browse and search meal ideas by cuisine, occasion, ingredient or magazine, and share their favourite recipes via social media and email; connecting food lovers all over Australia.
On average nearly 30 per cent of Australians spend more than 15 minutes looking for food and beverage related content on their mobile phone in a typical session[1]. Yahoo!7’s Food app is a pocket-sized companion, perfect for browsing recipes and creating personal shopping lists on the way home from work, out at the supermarket or even at home in the kitchen.
Kath Hamilton, Director of Audience, Yahoo!7 said, “User behaviour is changing and we know that our audience is increasingly accessing information on their smartphones. Australians have busy lifestyles and are looking for ways to access recipes, cooking tips and more, conveniently and on the go. By providing our great food and recipe content via an app, we hope to make this even easier.”
