Nikon have just advised me that the D800 will start appearing in Australian retail stores from tomorrow.
As with the recently released D4, they are not placing any recommended retail price against the camera, and will allow the market place to set the price.
This appears to be a significant change in the way Nikon are bringing their cameras into the market, and perhaps is related to their recently announced “Peace Of Mind” promotion, whereby prospective purchasers who see attractive grey market pricing on Nikon products can approach their preferred store and ask to get a price match, with an increased local warranty thrown into the bargain as well.
