Nikon’s recently introduced pricing regime, whereby they’re supporting local dealers who have to deal with, at the retail level, grey imports of the same product, seems to be bearing a little bit of fruit for the consumer.
First of all, we saw JB HiFi making the J1 available to all and sundry for just $646. This pricing, with the 10-30mm lens, represented very good value.
But today we can see that Gerry Harvey’s Harvey Norman stores are doing even better, and significantly so, selling the J1 twin lens kit for an almost unbelievable $498. While the sale says that it’s online only, the Harvey Norman online process permits you to specify a store from where you can pick up your camera, allowing you to order your kit by around lunch time today, and actually have it in your hands before you get home at night.
The Nikon J1 is a great little camera, and at less than $500 represents one of the best photographic buys around.
